The Light That Does Not Go Out

Reflection

As we approach Christmas, we are naturally led to think about light-not only the exterior light of illuminated streets or lit candles, but the inner light each of us carries. We live in times when the world often seems immersed in shadows of uncertainty, conflicts, personal challenges, and silent doubts known only to a few. Yet the true light, the one that does not go out, remains alive within us even when everything around us seems to darken.

Divine light does not depend on circumstances, emotional climate, or the storms of life. It is constant, faithful, and patient. Many times, we confuse the absence of noise with the absence of God, but He manifests Himself precisely in silence, in the pause, in the interval between one breath and the next. Today, we are invited to rediscover this light, to recognise it, and to allow it to guide us.

Inspiration

The light God kindles in the human heart is not fragile. It is not a flame that extinguishes at the slightest breath of adversity. On the contrary, it is a light that grows when shared, strengthens when welcomed, and expands when we trust.

Just as the star guided the Magi, we too are guided by discreet yet present signs: a friendly word, an unexpected gesture, a thought of peace that arises in the midst of restlessness. None of this is accidental. All of it is light.

Today, allow yourself to breathe deeply and remember that you do not walk alone. The light that accompanies you is greater than any shadow that tries to surround you. And when you feel your own light flicker, remember that God never moves away; He simply waits for you to lift your eyes to find Him again.

Prayer

Lord, on this Saturday before Christmas, I thank You for the light You place in my heart. Even when I feel tired, confused, or overwhelmed, You remain by my side, illuminating the path I must follow.

I ask You to rekindle within me hope, serenity, and confidence. May Your light dispel all shadows that try to settle in my mind and spirit. May I be able to recognise Your presence in the small details of my day-in simple gestures, in the words that reach me, in the silences that speak to me.

May this light not be only for me, but may I carry it to others-to those who suffer, to those who feel lost, and to those who need a sign that they have not been forgotten.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace and a reflection of Your light. May this Saturday be a moment of inner renewal and preparation for the joy that approaches. Amen.
