The Light That Precedes the Dawn
Reflection
As we draw closer to the heart of Advent and the mystery of Christmas, this Monday invites us to look toward the light that appears just before dawn. There are moments in life when everything seems suspended, silent, and almost motionless. These are hours when the heart searches for answers, when the soul longs for a sign, and when the spirit desires just a little peace. And yet, it is precisely in these moments of apparent darkness that God works with the greatest delicacy.
The light that precedes the dawn is not yet the fullness of day, but it is a promise. It is a sign that something new is being born, even when our eyes cannot yet see clearly. The same happens within us, for God lights small glimmers along our path through an unexpected gesture, a friendly word, a thought that restores hope. These small lights are enough to remind us that we do not walk alone.
Today, we are invited to welcome this discreet, gentle, yet deeply transformative light. We do not need to see everything, nor understand everything. It is enough to trust that dawn will come, because God is faithful and does not abandon the work of His hands.
Inspiration
Perhaps this day brings challenges, difficult decisions, or simply the accumulated fatigue of a year nearing its end. But one truth remains: the light of God does not fail. Even when the world feels heavy, even when the future seems uncertain, even when the heart feels fragile, God continues to illuminate us step by step.
Today’s inspiration is simple and profound: allow the light of God to find you where you are. Do not wait to be stronger, more prepared, or more perfect. Divine light does not seek perfection; it seeks openness. And when we open our hearts, even just a small crack, God brings forth within us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
May this Monday be an invitation to serenity. May you breathe deeply, slow your pace, and recognise that the light has already begun to rise within you.
Prayer
Lord, at the beginning of this week, I thank You for the light You place on my path, even when I cannot yet see the full day. Teach me to trust in Your timing, to recognise Your signs, and to welcome Your silent yet constant presence.
Illuminate my thoughts, strengthen my heart, and guide my steps. May I learn to wait with hope, act with courage, and live with gratitude. May Your light transform my worries into peace and my fears into confidence.
Today, I give You all that I am and all that I live. May Your dawn shine upon me and upon those I love. Amen.
