When Silence Speaks Louder
Reflection
There are
days when the noise of the world feels deafening, with opinions, haste,
demands, notifications - everything piling up at once. And in the midst of that
turmoil, we forget to listen to what makes no sound: silence. Silence is the
space where God speaks without words, where the heart reorganises itself, and
where the soul finds its way back to itself. It is not absence; it is discreet
presence. It is the interval between two notes that gives meaning to the
melody.
This Sunday, 23 August
2026, we are invited to rediscover the value of silence as a form of communion.
Not the silence of indifference, but the silence of contemplation. When
everything seems to collapse, silence becomes the shelter where faith retreats
to breathe. It is within silence that the echo of hope can be heard, even when
the world shouts the opposite.
Inspiration
Jesus
withdrew to solitary places to pray. He did not flee from the world; He sought
the inner space where noise would not distract Him from His mission. We too
need that retreat, even if brief, to rediscover the meaning of our words and
actions. Silence is the teacher that teaches us to speak with truth and act
with serenity.
There is a strength
that is born from silence - the strength of those who do not need to impose
themselves in order to exist. It is the strength of peace, of listening, of
humility. When we allow silence to shape us, we become more attentive to
others, more sensitive to suffering, and more available for love.
Prayer
Lord, teach me
to listen to Your silence. When the world distracts me, call me into Your calm.
When words become empty, grant me the gift of pause. May my heart find in You
the rest that noise cannot give. May my gaze discover, in silence, Your
constant presence. And as I leave that silence, may I carry with me the peace
that transforms. Amen.
