When God’s silence becomes a seed of trust
Reflection
There
are days when the heart searches for answers and finds only silence. Not an
empty silence, but one that weighs on us, unsettles us, and seems to contradict
the faith we profess. Yet throughout the spiritual tradition, this silence has
never meant absence; it has always been an invitation. An invitation to listen
more deeply, to trust beyond what we see, to remain steadfast when everything
in us longs to give up.
God’s
silence is not indifference; it is space. Space for us to grow, to mature, to
discover that faith does not rest solely on visible signs but on the inner
certainty that He remains, even when we do not feel Him. Just as the seed
germinates beneath the soil, hidden from sight, grace also works within us
quietly, patiently, and transformatively.
Today’s
Word of Encouragement reminds us that the absence of divine noise does not mean
abandonment. It means that God is at work in the depths, preparing paths,
strengthening roots, shaping our vision. Silence is often the place where trust
is purified and where hope becomes more authentic.
Inspiration
There
are moments when God speaks loudly, and others when He speaks softly. But there
are also moments when He does not speak at all - and it is then that He invites
us to learn to listen with the heart. Faith grows when we stop demanding
immediate answers and begin to welcome mystery. It grows when we accept that
God’s timing is not our own, and that His work in us is deeper than anything we
can understand.
Today,
let yourself be inspired to remain firm. Believe that what you do not
understand now will become light later. Believe that silence is fertile ground
where God plants promises you have not yet seen bloom. Believe that He is with
you, even when you do not feel Him.
Prayer
Lord,
in the moments when Your silence unsettles me, grant me the grace to trust.
Teach me to recognise Your presence even when I cannot perceive it, and to
believe that You are working within me silently and faithfully. May my heart
not be overcome by fear, but find rest in the certainty that You are God, and
that nothing I live escapes Your care. Strengthen me in waiting, enlighten me
in doubt, and sustain me on the journey. May Your silence become for me a
school of trust and a source of peace. Amen.
